Chocolate Cake Pops Recipe Uk
Ingredients
Making your own chocolate cake pops is a great way to enjoy a sweet treat while also putting your own spin on it. To get started on this delicious recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
- 200g of dark chocolate
- 150g of butter
- 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder
- 200g of caster sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons of plain flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 150g of white chocolate
- Sprinkles, to decorate
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180C and grease and line a 20cm round cake tin with baking paper. Start by melting the dark chocolate and the butter together in a bowl placed over a pan of simmering water. Once melted, set aside and allow to cool for a few minutes.
In a large bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, eggs, plain flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth. Gradually add in the melted chocolate and butter mixture, whisking until everything is combined.
Transfer the cake batter to the prepared tin and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Once ready, set aside to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the tin and transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cake has cooled, break into small pieces and place in a bowl. Using your hands, roll the cake into small balls and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer for 1 hour to set.
Once the cake pops have set, melt the white chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water. Dip the cake pops into the melted chocolate and then into the sprinkles. Place back on the baking tray and allow the chocolate to set before serving.
